Summary: Works as advertised but a bit difficult to drain 2008-11-03
Comment: I bought this a couple of years ago when I moved from West Texas to Washington state. Before I moved up north, I had never had any exposure to frozen precipitation on the roads but I had fish-tailed on wet roads enough times to know anything frozen would be a problem. I thought about sand bags at first but since I have a fully carpeted and covered bed, I wanted something a little "cleaner". The product works as advertised -- I throw it in the back of my truck and fill it up at the gas station before it gets cold enough for them to store their water hose for the winter. Because of my bed cover and carpet bed liner, the water inside never freezes and I essentially end up with a big water bed mattress in the back. I haven't had to tie it up and it stays in place just fine, but this will probably not be the case for any exposed truck beds. I'm able to place just about anything on top of it and it definitely improves traction. This sucker is almost impossible to move once filled.
The only complaint I have comes at the end of the winter when I have to empty it. Due to the 'X' shaped channels on it, I can never get all the water completely out. This of course means that when I've removed as much water from it as possible, the darn thing still weighs a good 50 pounds and doesn't fold very easily for storage the rest of the year. This is the only reason I don't give it 5 stars.

Summary: Freeway Bounce Reduction 2008-02-21
Comment: I drive a 2008 Toyota Tundra Crewmax truck that is known for its bad bed bounce on rough roads. I live in Southern California where our freeways are often constructed with poorly leveled concrete slabs. Before I bought the ShurTrax my teeth would chatter and my passengers would get a headache after just a few miles. Toyota needs to improve their suspension and California needs to build better freeways. In the meantime the ShurTrax system has vastly improved the ride. There is still a slight bounce on the worst pavement sections, but it is now a much more comfortable experience.

Summary: Maybe?? 2008-01-10
Comment: Looks like good idea and I am sure I can find somewhere to fill it. My only concern is if I decided I needed the room to haul something, how am I going to move it if it is frozen?

Summary: Great traction 2007-12-23
Comment: Installed this in my 2000 Dodge Dakota. Easy to install and fill. Much better than loading several 80# bags of sand and really helps with traction,\.

Summary: ShurTrax 2007-09-05
Comment: Can't beat the Amazon price! This really helped smooth out my 2007 Toyota Tundra's bumpy ride. Safer than sand or anything else heavy since it ties down and (unless frozen) shouldn't be dangerous during collision.
