Honda Civic Trunk Cargo Storage Net 2006 - 2011

First, it amazes me that Honda failed to include the mounting hardware or at least the pre-drilled mounting holes for this accessory in my 2011 Civic. I have considerable automotive mechanical experience, but after reviewing the installation instructions, and considering the cost for the drills and the rivet nut tool needed for the installation, I decided to let the dealer do it for me. And you should too. It cost me less than $50 and was worth every penny.

As for the cargo net itself, it's too short. The opening is stretched so tight some bulkier items wont fit in it. I've installed cargo nets on many of my previous cars and SUVs and I've been happy with them all, except this one.

The cargo net is a very worthwhile addition to the trunk of my 2010 Civic Si. It not only keeps grocery bags from sliding forward, but it is actually a v-shaped net that opens to allow it hold smaller items that would otherwise be able to slide under or around it

The instructions direct you to drill six holes: one in the each side of the trunk, and four in the floor of the trunk. I decided to only drill two of the floor holes because I only wanted the net to be mounted vertically, as you see in all of the product photos. If you choose to drill the two additional floor holes, they would be drilled further back in the trunk, just behind the rear seats. The four mounting points on the floor allow an alternate installation choice: to install the net flush against the bottom of the trunk--the idea being to use the taught net to trap items underneath it, rather than to span the net across the width of the trunk opening as is normally done. I'm really glad I purchased this cargo net. It's a very convenient way to keep loose items from sliding around in the trunk, i.e., groceries. Be aware it's a little tricky to install and you'll need a special "Rivnut" tool to do it. I found the tool here on Amazon.
