Like another reviewer I would not drill the holes for installation, instead I used heavy duty industrial strength 2 in wide Velcro. This comes in a 15 feet roll from Home Depot. I turned the matt over stuck the hook part to the perimeter of the mat, then attached the loop strip to the hook strip. Then pulled the protective strip from the sticky side of the loop strip, turned the whole thing over and carefully positioned the mat over the tail gate and pressed it in place. The sticky side is very strong and will hold to whatever it touches so you better be careful as it is positioned because you dont get a second chance. My truck is new so the tail gate was perfectly clean and easily takes the velcro sticky side. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Dee Zee 86975 Tailgate Mat (Misc.) This is a real heavy duty mat for protecting your tail gate. It comes with screws to attach to the tailgate that I don't use. I just can't drill into the tailgate and risk having rust set up where the holes are drilled. So, I just keep it in the bed and pull it over the tailgate whenever I load or unload something into or out of the truck. Would recommend this to anyone. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Dee Zee 86975 Tailgate Mat (Misc.) I ordered the tailgate mat for my 2007 Silverado LT. It arrived on time and fits really nice. The holes for the screws weren't cut all the way through the mat. I laid the mat on the tailgate and started on one end to drill through the mat to mark the tailgate. I installed the screws to hold it in place while I drilled the rest of the holes. It took about 20 minutes to install. I'm very satisfied with the mat. |
