This tailgate mat is not what I expected. I thought that it waoul be a rubber mat. It is carpeting. In a sense, the carpeting may be as good or better than rubber, due to the heaft and securing it to the tailgate without screws, but I worry a little about keeping it clean. Time will tell. Also the price is a little pricey for what you get.

I bought this tailgate mat for my 2011 Ford F150 as a companion piece to the Bedrug bed liner. Unlike the bedliner, the tailgate liner isn't an exact custom fit, but it's close enough to suit me. At $49.00, it seems a little overpriced considering its relatively small size, scant amount of material, and not being a true custom fitted product. It does provide the necessary scratch protection and the padding on the backside makes it easy on the knees. Installation was easy, using the included black heavy-duty industrial-grade velcro. It's been holding very securely now for 3 months, and is providing the protection and comfort as advertised. I'm reasonably satisfied with this product.
