The BAKFlip HD (Heavy Duty) Tonneau Cover / Truck Bed Cover has all of the great good looks and functionality of the BAKFlip G2 (Generation 2) Model but in a Heavy Duty / OEM (Factory) Quality version as this cover's outer surfaces are ALL METAL like the BAKFlip G2! However, the core of the BAKFlip HD Tonneau Cover / Truck Bed Cover is 25% more dense, 1/8" thicker and is much more rigid then the G2. The BAKFlip HD opens, closes, and operates identically to the BAKFlip G2 Model, however the BAKFlip HD has the following refinements: Panels on HD are 5/8" thick vs 1/2" thick for the G2 .The BAKFlip HD's textured flat aluminum surfaces on all panels have two coats of epoxy primer that is baked on at 460 degrees. This entire expoxy primer coating process is completed twice (first coat applied, baked on and cooled, and then the process is repeated). Once the two coats of primer has set, an extraordinarily tough and scratch-resistant polyester based coating is used as the final finishing coat (which gives the look of a tough, baked on enamel, but is much higher quality). This coating process ensures that the covers is both scratch and UV resistant. The 2 stage enamel process makes for a final finishing coat that is more of a factory look. The BAKFlip HD handles approximately 25% more distributed weight when compared to the G2. The HD is much more rigid then the G2. Quality and Rigidity Standards Endorsed by OEM - The BAKFlip HD is an Original Equipment Part for one of the Big 3 Automakers 2 year warranty for the BAKFlip HD vs. 1 year warranty for the BAKFlip G2. Powder coated pivoting arms - (G2 has zinc plated) Integrated tie down points underneath and on top of the cover (“D” Rings placed at strategic points under the cover). Extra Set of Clamps (8 clamps) provided for added rigidity (4 on each side). The G2 uses a total of 6 clamps. The BAKFlip HD has a higher quality finished look when compared to the BAKFlip G2 because of the 2 stage epoxy primer on the HD.

Just received the BAKFLIP HD cover and within an hour of opening the box the cover was installed. Most of the time spent was me walking over to my neighbors to borrow a T-50 bit to take the tie downs off. The rails fit was excellent while the holes are not perfect but good enough. There are only 2 bolts on each side to mount the rails and the trick is keep the first bolt loose to thread the 2nd bolt in the front. Make sure that the bolt is not cross threaded and once both are engaged properly, then you can crank down on the 2 bolts. Other than that, the instructions are spot on. Tightening the 4 anchors to secure the cover was a bit awkward but still perfectly do-able by yourself. The cover clicked right in and the fit is awesome. Looking forward to some awesome road trips now that the truck bed is secure and out of the environment.
There were a couple of self tapping screws left over and I wondered what they were as the instruction mentioned nothing about them. Sent...Read more

Great Product! Saw one on another Ridgeline and ordered myself one. Very weather tight and easy to install. Lots cheaper than the one from the car mfg. Made a recent fishing trip enjoyable with all the useable space it provided. Its very firm and easy to use. Wish it could lock somehow for longer overnight trips(would be my only improvement idea).

The thing was really easy to install! It took about twenty minutes. I had a lot of fun as I am a guy who likes to do my own work if I can. The instructions were easy to understand and perform. The quality of the item is excellent and should stand the test of time. I use the thing at least twenty times a day because of my job so I will be putting it through a real test. I've had it for about six weeks so far and it has not let me down yet. I was surprised that the metal is quite thin on the underside, a fact I found out because I slammed it down a bit too hard on an object I was transporting, causing it to be ruptured about the size of an inch long and a quarter inch deep. The inside of the item looks like it is made of styrotex but because it is supposed to take a reasonable amount of weight on it, like sitting on it, I guess the material may be stronger than styrotex.
