Bakflip falls apart after only five months!,
August 5, 2007 Ronald J. Magdos (DeMotte, IN USA) - See all my reviews
I purchased the Bakflip cover for my 2007 GMC classic crew cab. The cover is assembled with two sided tape and after only five months on my truck started falling apart. The side seals, guides for the locking device cords, and hinges all started to peel off. I only opened the cover all the way three times and never drove with it open. The cover never wanted to close properly I always had to push it to get it to latch.
Thank God I didn't buy it over the internet, instead I purchased it from a auto accessory center in town, if not for that I would have to try and deal with the supplier over the phone to remedy the problems. The owner of the accessory center said he would stand behind his sales, and thank goodness he is a man of his word. When I showed him how my Bakflip was coming apart at the seams he agreed and called Bak Industries to try and fix the problems. Bak Industries told him that they received a bad batch of two sided tape, and had other complaints about the same...Read more

I bought this cover because I wanted something to be able to cover my bed up for our long trips that we do. I am stationed in Missouri and visit family often in Indiana. I wanted the security of having somewhere to put our luggage and not worry about weather. This does the trick perfectly. I also wanted a cover that I could take off it I wanted to, in case I need my truck bed for moving large furniture. This bed cover is versatile and resourceful.
Exactly what I wanted,

I looked at numerous covers, and decided on the flip for it's sturdiness and the fact that I don't have to retract or raise the entire thing to use it.
It was packaged very well, there were numerous handling marks and a couple of holes in the box from UPS' notorious abuse, but the packaging protected it well.
It was so easy to install, it took less than 30 minutes to get it set good. I spent another 15 getting it snugged exactly where I wanted it to get the front and rear seals to cover the most area, and it was done. I like the ease of opening and closing it, and especially like the look of it. I decided to use this in tandem with a moto-gate to keep smaller stuff like groceries and ice chests from sliding up to the front. All in all, with my locking tailgate, this cover keeps things out of sight, and most importantly, keeps them *IN* the bed of the pickup on the highway.
Nice product, and I am happy with it.
